NTN Clinical Lead
After more than 15 years with the Network, including her role as Chair of the Clinical Advisory Group and her support of numerous Network meetings and activities both locally and nationally, Dr Laura Duffy has stepped down as Network Clinical Director. We would like to thank Laura for her leadership, dedication, and significant contribution to the Network over the years, and we wish her every
success in the future. We are pleased that Laura will continue to support the Network and remain involved in its ongoing work.
We are delighted to welcome Claire Garland, ED Consultant Northumbria as our new Clinical Director, Claire joins us with a wealth of experience supporting the network and preciously chaired our Clinical Advisory Group. In her new role, she will provide clinical leadership for the Network, supporting collaboration across organisations and helping to drive excellence in trauma care throughout
the region.
New Team Members
We're pleased to introduce Izzy Freshwater, ED Consultant at James Cook & GNAAS, who has joined the Network as our new Governance Lead. Izzy will be supporting the Network's governance agenda, helping to strengthen processes, promote best practice, and ensure the continued delivery of high quality standards across our services.
Please join us in welcoming Sinead Savoury, Occupation Therapist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, who is joining us as Rehabilitation Lead. Sinead will be working closely with colleagues across services to support the delivery and development of rehabilitation pathways, helping to ensure patients receive high quality, coordinated care and support throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Previous Appointments
For those who was not already aware, Becky Tweddle, Paediatric Major Trauma Rehabilitation Lead at Newcastle Hospitals, serves as our Paediatric Lead for the Network and chairs our Paediatric Clinical Advisory Group. Becky has extensive experience in paediatric trauma rehabilitation and provides invaluable leadership and guidance to the group.
Chris Hawkins, Emergency Department Consultant at Sunderland, serves as our Older Persons Trauma Lead for the Network. Chris is also Director of HECTOR in the North and brings extensive experience and valuable expertise to support the development of trauma services for older people.
New team members will be joining us in September. Please take the opportunity to introduce yourself and help them settle into their new roles.
