Executive Board Meeting

This meeting looks at the strategic direction of the Network and monitors the governance arrangements. Members include the Directors of Trauma from both MTCs, the MTC trauma managers, the Network Clinical Leads, Ambulance Service strategic leads, Network Manager, Commissioning representatives and members from the Critical Network. The meeting is chaired by the Network Clinical Director and convenes quarterly.

Clinical Advisory Group

This meeting is an open forum for all healthcare professionals involved in Trauma care. It runs quarterly and is chaired by the Network Clinical Lead. Guidelines and developed and reviewed here, along with monitoring regional TARN data, and sharing best practices and learning from clinical incidents. Rehabilitation Group

The Network trauma rehabilitation group meets quarterly to discuss pathways, protocols and service developments relating to trauma rehabilitation. The group is chaired by the Network Rehabilitation Lead. If you would like to know more about this group and get involved please contact us.

Older Persons Working Group

The Older Persons Working Group was created to look at the care of the older trauma population in the region receives. The group meets quarterly and is chaired by the Older Persons Trauma Lead. If you would like to know more about this group and get involved please contact us.

Prehospital Trauma Group

The Prehospital Trauma Group meets quarterly and is chaired by the Consultant Paramedic at NEAS. Members of the group are made up of representatives from each of the pre-hospital providers delivering care from trauma patients in the region.

North East Ortho-geriatrician Network

The North East Ortho-geriatrician group meets quarterly and is chaired by Dr. Faye Wilson (currently on Maternity Leave and being covered by Dr. Ahmed Jaafar). The group is open to all ortho-geriatricians in the region, including trainees, as well as nursing and AHP staff working. There is an educational element to the meetings as well as business is covered looking at improving pathways and documentation.

The three overlapping phases (pre-hospital, in-hospital and rehabilitation) of a patient’s journey require organisation so that patients are treated at the time and the place that most benefits them. Northern Trauma Network provides this.
