HECTOR in the North
The network has been facilitating HECTOR in the North training sessions across the region since 2017, which hasbeen well received with positive feedback, 244 candidates have completed the course, including both regionaland out of region participants. The training is a multi disciplinary simulation based program aimed at clinicians,senior practitioners, and AHPs responsible for managing older adults who have sustained traumatic injuries andmajor trauma. The courses run twice yearly. Please look out for the email advising future dates or contact yourclinical lead locally for further details.
Trauma Nursing Core Course
The next local Level 2 ED nurse trauma training (TNCC) will be on 3 & 4 October at The James Cook University Hospital. The network has been supporting these courses since 2017 and have trained over 270 staff. Dates for2027 courses will be released in due course.
Rehab Webinars
We have successfully completed a further round of the monthly NTN Rehab webinars which have been well
engaged and received. You can view recordings from previous sessions can be found in the videos section tab on this page. Sinead Savoury, Rehab Lead will be looking to schedule more in the coming months for the remainder of 2026 going into 2027. If you have ideas for sessions, you would like to see please let u know.

Major trauma describes serious and often multiple injuries where there is a strong possibility of death or disability, it is the main cause of death for people under the age of 45 and is a major cause of debilitating long term injuries. More than half of major trauma is caused by road traffic accidents.
